PHOENICIA, Tyre. 126/5 BC-AD 65/6. AR Half Shekel (22mm, 6.86 g, 1h). Dated CY 58 (69/8 BC). Laureate head of Melkart right, wearing lion skin around neck / Eagle standing left on prow; palm frond in background; to left, HN (date) above club; monogram to right, uncertain letter between legs. DCA-Tyre –; HGC 10, 358; DCA 921 (unreported date). VF, toned. Extremely rare date, if correct; HΛ is possible, but the leftward edge of the second letter is vertically aligned with the right edge of the H, such that a Λ is unlikely (also the style of the dies is more consistent with the late 40s and the few 50s dates known).
