MUGHAL: Shah Alam II, 1759-1806, AR rupee (11.17g), Ahmadabad (Ghausgarh), AH(120)2 year 29, KM-482, unlisted date in KM and elsewhere, but an inferior specimen appeared in the Todywalla Auction 50 (lot 167, unsold), bold EF, RRR, ex Paul Stevens Collection. This is not the common Ahmadshah in Gujarat, but a locale in Uttar Pradesh, tentatively identified as the fortress of Ghausgarh near Muzaffarnagar, later the base of the brief usurper, Bedar Bakht. This was a two-year type (AH1201-1202), probably struck by the supporters of Shah Alam II and the British in anticipation of the rebellion of Bedar Bakht.
