The Ilkhan golds after Ghazan's monetary reform in AH696 do not follow a fixed weight standard, though they tend to cluster in the areas of 3.8-4.8g and 7.2-9.5g, but with a significant number between 4.8g and 7.2g. Thus they are coins that had to be weighed, not counted, best regarded as gold ingots.
