Moche III Deity Vessel from Peru, ca. A.D. 200 - 450. This large, intricately molded stirrup bottle is 9-1/4" high and features an elaborately detailed representation of the primary deity Ai Apaec. His legs terminate in shortened versions of these mythical snakes, with additional heads emanating from the base of the spout. The lower section of the chamber is decorated with traditional step fret designs. Intact, with strong mineral deposits. Ex Gallatin estate. Value range: $500 - $800.
