She was the daughter of Iskander Muda and the widow of Iskander Thani (1636-41) and one of the rare female rulers recorded in islamic history. It is even more unusual that she was the first of four queens chosen to reign successively for more than half a century over Atjeh, the other queens being Nur al-`Alam (1675-78), Inayat Shah (1678-88) and Kamalat Shah (1688-99).
