Republic gold "Independence Centennial" Medal 1925 MS63 NGC, 46.5mm/56g. Obv: 3/4 facing bust of Antonio José de Sucre. Rev: Arms of Bolivia. Edge: 18k. Intricately designed and struck with an attractive matte finish, this rare medal commemorates the 100th anniversary of Bolivia's independence. As is common with 18 karat alloys, several coppery blushes are now evident over the surfaces and the light handling is reflected in the grade. Seldom seen, our last record for this issue comes from a 2014 Sedwick sale, where an example that appears to be in slight finer quality brought $4,500 hammer.
