Saxe-Weimar. Johann Ernst IV & 5 Brothers Goldgulden 1623-GA MS62 NGC, Weimar mint, 2.97g, KM87, Fr-3015. Georg Andreae as mintmaster. A very rare emission of the Eight Brothers of Saxe-Middle-Weimar, although two had died by the date of issue for this piece, hence Johann and his 5 brothers above. This short-lived duchy would eventually split into Saxe-New-Weimar, Saxe-Eisenach, and Saxe-Gotha when only three brothers remained in 1640. The coin itself is lustrous and exhibits faint coppery tone over mostly unblemished surfaces.
