William & Mary silver "Protestant Party Invitation" Medal 1688 AU, Eimer-296, MI-634/58. 63mm/87.39g. By J. Smeltzing (?). Obv: Draped conjoined busts of William and Mary right. Rev: Allegorical Religion standing behind alter with hand on Liberty Cap and religious items at feet; all seeing eye above. Light purple and gray tone sits over reflective, lightly marked surfaces. An attractive example of this very scarce Dutch medal that was struck to mark the invitation of William and Mary to be the head of the Protestants.
