Papal States. Calixtus III (1455-1458) gold Zecchino (Florin of 24 Sols) ND VF Details (Removed from Jewelry) NGC, Avignon mint, Fr-36a (under France), Berman-355, Muntoni-17. A rare gold coin from the fleeting reign of Calixtus III, featuring an ox above crossed keys and the reverse motif of a tiara. Despite being removed from jewelry, this coin is struck on a full flan, with readable legends, and attractive, antiqued patina. A very rare type worthy of the finest collections of Papal gold.
