Republic gold 20 Pesos 1872 Oa-E MS61 NGC, Oaxaca mint, KM414.7. The second rarest issue from this highly elusive mint that produced 20 pesos for only four years. Of the few confirmed survivors of this date, this is likely the finest, with information from a private census done over 20 years ago mentioning only two confirmed appearances; one a Brilliant UNC (presumably this coin) and the other being aXF. Since then, only this piece has made it into the grading services population reports and no sales are found in digitally archived public auctions. Attractive as well, this coin boasts well-defined surfaces and bright yellow-color coloration that is elevated by reflective fields. Few contact marks limit the grade, but two small rim bruises that are of minor visual affect are observed. Altogether, an extremely important opportunity for the specialist and one of the most exciting offerings of the entire sale.
