Nicholas I "Moscow University" silver Medal 1855 MS60 NGC, Diakov-614.1 (R3), Smirnov-555. Obv. M. Lomonosov and P.I. Shuvalov presenting a book to Empress Elizabeth I. Rev. Crowned two-headed Russian eagle with didided date (18-55) below the claws. Issued to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Moscow University. Superbly engraved, with very high relief. Light gold and russet patina is visible, mostly around the peripheries. Moderate marks, and light hairlines are evident on both the obverse and reverse. Extremely rare, and the only silver striking of this medal we have seen.
