SELEUCID KINGDOM. Seleucus I Nicator (312-281 BC). AR tetradrachm (17.00 gm). NGC AU 4/5 - 3/5, Fine Style, overstruck. Types of Alexander III the Great. Seleucia on Tigris, ca. 300-282 BC. Head of Heracles right, wearing lion skin headdress / Zeus seated left, holding Nike and scepter; NO in left field. SC 117.6. HGC 9, 16ia. Some smoothing or scraping evident in reverse fields. Overstruck, probably on a tetradrachm of Alexander, with a bit of the old profile visible in a striking defect on cheek of Heracles.
