Julius Caesar, as Dictator (49-44 BC). AR denarius (3.70 gm). NGC XF 4/5 - 4/5. North Africa (Utica?), 46 BC. COS TERT DICT ITER, head of Ceres right, wreathed with grain ears / AVGVR PONT MAX, simpulum, sprinkler, capis and lituus; in right field, M. Crawford 467/1b. HCRI 57a. RSC 4. Crisp devices and lustrous fields.

Although this coin type does not name Caesar, the titles mentioned (Dictator for the Third Time, Consul, Pontifex Maximus, Augur) can only refer to him. It was likely minted at the North African capital of Utica after it fell to Caesar's forces in April of 44 BC.
