Zanzibar Zanzibar Government 10 Rupees 1.2.1928 Pick 3. Once again, we meet this exhilarating Zanzibar design. Only one series was issued under the Zanzibar Government name, which was printed by Waterlow and Sons for the Sultanate of Zanzibar. Because of the British influence in the region, under which Zanzibar later became a British protectorate, the decision was made to switch the legal tender in the state to the East African Shilling, ending the history of this short lived series. Collectors will remember the first time we unveiled this design, when we presented one of the crowning notes from the Ruth Hill collection. On close inspection, the note we are offering today is from the same pack as the Ruth Hill note, which carried the serial number 129974. The Ruth Hill example was a PCGS Apparent Very Fine 25 example with rust stains across the back and small notes, which realized $64,625 in 2014. This example with deeper colors, especially the serial numbers, and a relatively stainless back, will surely demand more collectors' attention. Minor paper damage and stains are noted, but an otherwise solid and very attractive PMG Very Fine 25. HID08701242017
