Attica, Athens. Fourrée Tetradrachm (13.01 g), ca. 454-404 BC. Eastern imitation. Helmeted head of Athena right, frontal eye. Reverse: AΘ[E\, owl standing right, head facing; above to left, olive-spray with berry and crescent; all within incuse square. Cf. Kroll 8; cf. SNG Copenhagen 31-40. Plating broken in spots exposing core. Very Fine. Estimate Value $500 - 600

This coin is stylistically dissimilar to the extremely rare emergency issues struck in Athens towards the end of the Peloponnesian Wars and more in line with copies circulating in the eastern regions of the Mediterranean world.
