Three Cent Nickels
1876 3CN MS65 PCGS. The Centennial year mintage of 160,800 three cent nickels in 1876 represented the final six-digit mintage of the 1870s for the denomination. Proof-only years followed in 1877 and 1878, and just 38,000 pieces were struck in 1879. This Gem Uncirculated 1876 example is prooflike throughout the fields with sharply struck devices. Few pieces are finer for the year. Population: 32 in 65 (1 in 65+), 13 finer (7/17).
