1820 10C Medium 0, JR-11, R.3, MS64 NGC. The Small C in 10 C narrows the list of possible die marriages to JR-10 or JR-11, while the I well below T in UNITED confirms that this is the JR-11 variety. Most collectors would regard the present near-Gem as brilliant, although the lustrous borders display a hint of gold patina. The fields are flashy and prooflike near the devices. Overall, this near-Gem example is crisply struck and nearly unmarked with plentiful eye appeal. (Note: Experts are divided on which varieties are Small 0, Medium 0, and Large 0 in the date. We believe JR-11 is a Medium 0. Others say it is a Large 0.)
