Proof Twenty Cent Pieces
1878 20C PR63 PCGS. BF-1, R.3. The 1878 was the final year any twenty cent pieces were produced. It had been two years since the last business strikes were made, and now it was time to end the proofs also. Only 760 pieces were struck, and after the unsold coins were melted the net mintage was 600 proofs. This is a lightly toned example that displays remarkably deep mirrors in the fields. Lightly hairlined.
