Proof Trade Dollars
1876 T$1 PR62 Cameo PCGS. Type I/II. The fields are nicely mirrored with delicate lines beneath a thin veil of champagne-gold patina. The raised devices are lightly frosted to earn the Cameo designation. A large mintage of 1,150 proofs was struck for the Centennial year, and many proofs were distributed to the general public, which was unfamiliar about how to handle and care for proofs. This example shows few light marks, yet the overall eye appeal is good.
