(1785) Bar Copper -- Environmental Damage -- PCGS Genuine. XF Details. W-8520. Intertwined letters USA form the distinctive monogram obverse of the scarce Bar cent, while the reverse mimics the 13-lined face of some Revolutionary War buttons "but without the eye" (shank) as described by an 1795 New Jersey newspaper. This example displays pleasing medium-brown color with finely granular surfaces. The strike is slightly off-center on both obverse and reverse, as often seen for the issue. Listed on pages 75-76 of the 2018 Guide Book.
