1783 RES COPPER Washington & Independence Cent, Draped Bust, No Button, Copper Restrike, Engrailed Edge PR67 Red and Brown PCGS. Baker-3, Vlack 17-L, W-10360, Musante GW-107, R.1. The original 1783 Draped Bust Washington & Independence tokens engraved by Thomas Wells Ingram were issued some time between 1815 and 1825. Medallist W.J. Taylor later acquired the original punches and used them to create new dies. These restrikes were made about 1860. Each side retains considerable mint red color along with steel-blue, rose, and golden-brown shadings. Pinpoint-sharp with a die crack from ES in STATES through the base of the rock. Listed on page 82 of the 2018 Guide Book. Population: 1 in 67 Red and Brown, 0 finer (7/17).
