Proof Shield Nickels
1877 5C PR66 PCGS. The supply of minor coinage was sufficient to satisfy the needs of commerce in 1877, as a long-lasting period of economic contraction continued to affect the United States and much of the Western world during the Long Depression. The Mint struck 900 proof nickels for collectors that year. This brilliant Premium Gem has hazy fields that somewhat obscure the reflectivity. Population: 39 in PR66 (1 in PR66+), 57 finer including Cameo and Deep Cameo (7/17).
