Standing Liberty Quarters
1916 25C MS63 Full Head PCGS. The coinage redesign program that President Theodore Roosevelt initiated a decade earlier culminated in new designs for the three current silver denominations in 1916. The Mercury dime, Standing Liberty quarter, and Walking Liberty half dollar all debuted in 1916. While the dime and half dollar are plentiful today, the quarter is elusive. Only 52,000 of these coins were minted and few have survived. The present Select Mint State example has the eye appeal of a higher grade. Close inspection reveals a few minuscule marks on Liberty's head that limit the numerical grade level. Hints of champagne toning appear on both sides of this satiny and highly lustrous example.
