Standing Liberty Quarters
1918-D 25C MS67 Full Head PCGS. Soft, luminous mint luster gives this Superb Gem glistening surfaces that are devoid of imperfection. The shield rivets are a trifle weak at the high point of the bust, but the date, head, stars, and eagle's feathers are sharp. A trace of champagne toning graces each side, adding warmth to the pristine surfaces.
The 1918-D quarter dollar in this condition is a major rarity, and this piece is one of only two Full Head examples so-graded (both PCGS) with none finer. PCGS and NGC combined list five non-Full Head coins in MS67, also with none finer (8/17). We have previously handled a number of MS66 Full Head coins but this is the first Superb Gem Full Head that we have offered at auction. Recent auction appearances of the other MS67 Full Head coin have realized in excess of $30,000, but it has not been seen since 2013. We anticipate strong Registry collector interest when this CoinFacts plate coin crosses the auction block.
