Early Half Dollars
1795 50C 2 Leaves, O-125, T-13, R.4, XF45 NGC. The 1795 half dollar is the more available of the two Flowing Hair type issues and is often encountered in type specialists' cabinets. The piece here offered is of a scarce variety, characterized in part by star 1 fully piercing Liberty's lower hair curl. Rich gunmetal-gray and dusky olive-gold patina coats each side, with only light wear seen over the well-defined design elements. Numerous mint-made adjustment marks are noted around the obverse periphery, causing minor softness of strike on the lower-right dentils. This piece will be of interest to both the type collector and the early half dollar variety specialist.
