1834 50C Small Date, Small Letters, O-114, R.1, MS65 NGC. Clear repunching on stars 3 and 4 as well as on the lower outer loop of 8 help differentiate O-114 from its oft-mistaken O-113 brethren. They share the same hub die with an unusual, double clasp. Semiprooflike fields and vibrant cobalt-blue, violet, and amber-gold toning give this Gem Uncirculated example extraordinary eye appeal. As usual, LUR in PLURIBUS is weak and most stars are flat, but the central strike is top-notch. Mint luster is especially strong on the reverse. Tied for finest of the variety.
