1838 50C GR-6, R.3, MS64 PCGS. CAC. The 1838 Reeded Edge half dollar as a whole is scarce in MS64 and rare finer. This CAC-approved near-Gem displays sharp central devices with some weakness around the peripheral design elements. A curving line on Liberty's jaw is the only abrasion of note. The interiors have light champagne toning, while the border regions show deeper orange-gold, lavender, and blue hues. Population: 64 in 64 (5 in 64+), 11 finer. CAC: 19 in 64, 5 finer (7/17).
