Gold Dollars
1857-D G$1 AU58 NGC. CAC. Variety 9-L. The most remarkable feature of this coin is the strength of strike on the entire obverse and most of the reverse. The 1857-D is well-known as a poorly produced, weakly struck dollar, but the present coin is weak only on the lower portion of the wreath. The curious raised segments are prominent around the border of the reverse. The surfaces display bright orange-gold color and there are no mentionable abrasions.
