Indian Quarter Eagles
1911-D $2 1/2 MS63 NGC. The D is bold on this piece, a trait not always found on this key. Likewise, the impression is razor-sharp on the headdress, shoulder, leg feathers, and arrows/fletchings. The partial wire rim around the upper obverse and lower reverse is characteristic of this famous Denver Mint quarter eagle issue. Collectors of this series and even those only vaguely familiar with it easily recognize the 1911-D with its low mintage of 55,680 coins as the singular key date among its peers. Importantly, this Select Uncirculated example is more than three grade points higher than the average representative at the grading services.
