Three Dollar Gold Pieces
1864 $3 AU55 PCGS. CAC. The 1864 three dollar gold piece comes from a mintage of only 2,600 pieces and was produced during a period when few gold coins were set aside for numismatic purposes. The Mint State population of this issue is scant, making high-end AU coin heavily pursued. This CAC-approved example displays a good strike and warm straw-gold coloration with minor field chatter. Some reflectivity is seen in the protected regions. Population: 32 in 55, 66 finer. CAC: 4 in 55, 12 finer (7/17).
