Commemorative Gold
1904 G$1 Lewis and Clark Gold Dollar MS67 PCGS. In MS66, the 1904 Lewis and Clark gold dollar is somewhat more plentiful than its 1905 counterpart, but in MS67, both dates are genuine rarities. This Superb Gem 1904 boasts sharp detail with rich honey-gold luster and partially reflective fields. Close study with a loupe fails to reveal any mentionable flaws. This issue had a distribution of 10,025 coins, including assay pieces. Examples were sold in conjunction with the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition, held in Portland, Oregon, in 1905. Charles Barber prepared the double-headed design. Population: 22 in 67, 2 finer (7/17).
