1794 1C Head of 1794, S-53, B-45, R.6 -- Environmental Damage -- PCGS Genuine. Fine Details. Our EAC grade: sharpness of VG8, net Good 5. All examples of this variety known today are approximately the same die state. Equal to 10th finest known, based on the Census data kept by Del Bland, or 15th finest according to Bill Noyes. Just 21 examples of this variety are currently known, an important rarity for the large cent specialist to pursue. At the time Penny Whimsy was published, Dr. Sheldon was only aware of eight examples. The surfaces have deep steel color with slightly lighter grayish devices. Light corrosion is visible on both sides.
