1798 1C Reverse of 1795, S-156, B-10, High R.5, VG8 PCGS. Our EAC grade: sharpness of VG10, net VG8. Breen Die State II with a trace of the crack from the obverse rim at 5 o'clock to the drapery. This piece has smooth and pleasing light brown surfaces and shows slight evidence of an uneven strike with weakness at the upper right obverse and lower right reverse. Among the top dozen examples known. Del Bland grades this piece VG8 and tied for 11th finest in his Condition Census. Bill Noyes assigns a lower VG7 grade, but a higher Census ranking at eighth finest known. This quality of this piece is well above average for the variety.
