Gold Dollars
1854 G$1 Type One MS65+ PCGS. The year 1854 was transitional for the gold dollar design. The Philadelphia Mint struck more than 855,000 Type One gold dollars and then followed up with nearly 784,000 Type Two coins, which had a slightly larger diameter and a thinner planchet. Both issues are suitable representatives of their respective types. This frosty Type One example is sharply struck and frosty with excellent yellow-gold mint luster. Population: 45 in 65 (4 in 65+), 21 finer (7/17).
