Classic Quarter Eagles
1839-O $2 1/2 Low Date, Close Fraction, Breen-6153, Variety 28, R.4, XF45 PCGS. Some light wear is evident on the top of Liberty's hair and the eagle's wings, but most interior design detail remains intact on this impressive Choice XF specimen. The antique-gold surfaces are lightly abraded and two die cracks are observed on the reverse, one from the eagle's head to the right (facing) wing, and the other from R in AMERICA to the top Arrow head. The 1839-O is the first quarter eagle from the New Orleans Mint, and it is a one-year Classic Head type with that mintmark.
