Liberty Quarter Eagles
1845-D $2 1/2 XF45 NGC. Variety 6-J. Formerly Variety 6-I. A single pair of dies was used to strike 19,460 quarter eagles at the Dahlonega Mint in 1845. Perhaps 200 to 250 pieces survive, mostly in VF and XF condition. This orange-gold Choice XF quarter eagle has a well-struck obverse, while the other side displays soft detail on the eagle. Minor flecks throughout.
