1913-S $5 MS62+ NGC. Weak S. David Akers wrote: "In MS-63 or higher grade, this issue is really very rare and gems are almost never available." This MS62+ nearly qualifies for that rarified grade, falling fractionally short. Soft luster emanates from light gold surfaces that show a few grease strike-throughs. As noted on the holder, the S mintmark is incomplete with only the lower loop readily apparent -- a typical feature of the 1913-S. The NGC Census lists 40 higher grading events (7/17).
