Liberty Eagles
1899 $10 MS65+ PCGS. With a production total of 1.2 million coins, the 1899 ranks as one of the more accessible Liberty Head eagles in mint condition. Gems, however, are very scarce, and anything finer is effectively beyond the reach of most collectors. This MS65+ ten dollar gold piece approaches the finest known representatives, with deep reddish-gold surfaces and pinpoint detail throughout. A couple of microscopic ticks and nicks are of no consequence. PCGS records merely six finer submissions (7/17).
