1868 3CN Three Cent Nickel, Judd-618, Pollock-687, R.4, PR66 Cameo PCGS. CAC. Similar to the regular issue, but the Roman numerals on the reverse are smooth instead of ribbed. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. This is one of the more available and more affordable patterns with dozens of pieces known. Also struck in copper, and a single aluminum piece is known. The fields are deeply reflective and there is just the slightest hint of rose patina present. A splendid, sharply contrasted example.
