1879 $1 Goloid Metric Dollar, Judd-1626, Pollock-1822, R.4, PR62 PCGS. The William Barber Goloid Metric dollar designs combines a capped Liberty Head with a reverse carrying the statutory as well as elemental inscriptions. A circle of stars around the central text breaks the otherwise continuous wording. Purportedly struck in goloid (a silver alloy that includes a small portion of gold) with a reeded edge. It is unknown if any of these pieces have undergone metallurgical testing to determine if they are really goloid. Deep golden-russet toning covers each side.
