(1836) Houck's Panacea Counterstamped on a 1786 Spanish 2 Reales, HT-143, Brunk H-779, Good 6 NGC. An unlisted host coin date in either the Brunk or Rulau references. Jacob Houck was a Baltimore, Maryland dry goods dealer who expanded into the patent medicine business. The loaf-shaped counterstamp on this example is fully struck (not always the case), with even the apostrophe visible in HOUCK'S.
