National Bank of Egypt, obverse (2) and reverse (2) archival photographs showing designs for £1, 1924, both with camel at centre, Pharaonic heads at top left and right, value at low left and right, reverses different, one with Pharaonic head at centre, the others with bank cypher at centre(Pick 18 for type), One design is completely identical on the front, but the back shows a pharaonic mask at centre, where the issued example has the monogram of the National Bank of Egypt. It is hand dated 1923, showing how far back the design process went. The other reverse design shows the correct central design on the reverse. There is an extra design element attached which was not chosen, showing a similar but less ornate option (4).
