Banque Mellie Iran, obverse (1) and reverse (2) archival photographs showing designs for a 1000 rials, 1935, this design for a 1000 rial again features significantly different guilloches and an engraved portrait, with the new bank name on reverse. However, of far greater interest is the hand written note to the side of one of the reverse photographs. This states that the 100 rials design from this series was not photographed, but that it was actually engraved as per the photo taken on 7.12.34. This is the only design from this series that is known as a fully printed Bradbury colour trial, and confirms that none of the others were taken further.excellent condition and a compelling part of the story of this series (3).
Estimate: £600.00 - £800.00
