Rx: [COL PR F AVG F C C]AE[S MET S P] around, PORTVS / AVGVSTI (weak) in field, Galley l. with four oarsmen and three standards at stern. Purchased from Joel Malter, 20 September 1966. We know from Josephus that Herod the Great rebuilt the city of Caesarea and gave it that name, and also constructed a large harbor there which he called the Augustan Harbor, to which the inscription Portus Augusti on this coin of Trajan Decius clearly refers.
