L. Cornelius Lentulus and C. Claudius Marcellus, 49 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.82 g, 12 h), military mint travelling with Pompey in the East. Triskeles, with winged head of Medusa facing at center; stalk of grain between each leg. Rev. [C]OS / [L]ENT / MAR Jupiter standing facing, head to right, holding thunderbolt in his right hand and eagle in his left; to right, harpa. Babelon (Cornelia) 64 and (Claudia) 9. Crawford 445/1a. RBW 1561. Sydenham 1029a. Beautifully toned. Struck slightly off center and with a scratch on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
