.Attica. Athens. 137/6. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 16.88 g, 12 h), New style, Miki(on) and Theophra(stos). Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing pendant earring and a triple-crested Attic helmet adorned with Pegasos and long tendrils on the bowl, five serpents on the visor, and a miniature Pegasos on the upturned ear guard. Rev. Α-ΘΕ / ΜΙ/ΚΙ - / ΘΕΟ/ΦΡΑ Owl standing facing on amphora; to right, Nike driving chariot to right; on amphora, H (= 8th month); below amphora, ΣΩ (= contractor's initials). Thompson 318f. A lustrous coin with a large and well-detailed head of Athena in high relief. Some very minor deposits on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
