Thrace. Abdera. Circa 490 BC. Octodrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 28.88 g). Griffin, with right foreleg raised, seated to left on base with an egg and dart molding; to left, lotus flower. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Asyut 135. Gulbenkian 441 var. May, Abdera 41. Very rare, perhaps the fourth specimen known. Nicely toned. Some minor flatness on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
