GREEK COINS

Thrace. Abdera. Circa 473/0-449/8 BC. Hemiobol (Silver, 6 mm, 0.27 g, 12 h). Forepart of a griffin to left, right paw raised. Rev. Scallop shell in incuse square. May, Abdera 109 = SNG Copenhagen 319 (same dies). Very rare. With a remarkably finely made griffin, especially given the size. Slightly rough surfaces, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
