Kings of Macedon. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.27 g, 12 h), struck under Philip III, Magnesia ad Maeandrum, 323-319. Head of Herakles wearing lionskin headdress to right. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long scepter with his left; to left, bee upwards; to right, spear-head upwards. Price 1939. Attractively toned. Extremely fine.
