Kings of Macedon. Demetrios I Poliorketes, 306-283 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.01 g, 3 h), Amphipolis, c. 292-291. Diademed head of Demetrios to right, wearing bull's horn above his forehead. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ Poseidon, nude to the waist, seated left on a pile of rocks, holding aplustre in his right hand and trident with his left; in inner field to left, monogram of ΑΡΤ over Ξ; on outer right, monogram. Newell 103. A sharp and clear coin with a fine portrait and attractive matte gray surfaces. Metal fault on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
